David’s Daily Devotions
Posted: October 14, 2009 Filed under: David's Daily Devotions 1 CommentThe name was coined by Dave Quinn from Passion Australia www.passionaustralia.org (and webmaster of Merredin Uniting Church where I minister). This blog started as a reflection of our journey from South Africa to Australia – and to provide prayer points for our new congregation in Merredin as they awaited our arrival. Now that we are here and pretty much settled in, I have turned my attention to adding reflections each morning and evening based on the Bible Readings for the week as used by our congregation.
The readings are prescribed from the Revised Common Lectionary which is designed to take the readers through the Christian Seasons each year and through the Bible in a programmed manner. I have used these readings for my personal devotions for several years and preached a short message on the texts each Wednesday at the Holy Communion Service in my previous congregation in Howick, South Africa. The cycle of readings changes each three years with each year denoted as Year A, Year B, or Year C. We are presently in Year B. It has always been my intention to write a 3 year cycle devotion book based on these readings and thi may well be the first step. Enjoy!
Great idea David and thanks for the mention 🙂
